Why isn’t Porkbun offering the .to TLD?

Hey folks, I'm looking to register a domain for my new business and have found that Namecheap has the .to TLD available, but I've heard mixed reviews about them. I'd prefer to use Porkbun, but they don't seem to list .to as an available option. I did confirm that the second-level domain is available on tonic.to. What do you guys recommend? Should I go ahead and purchase it through Namecheap, and then see if I can transfer it to Porkbun later?

Namecheap can be a decent choice for registering your domain. Their prices have gone up a bit, but I've never had any major issues with them. You could buy the domain there and then check what the transfer process to Porkbun would cost.

I've used Namecheap for years and they've been fine. Just avoid their upsells! Keep in mind .to is a country-specific domain for Tonga. I usually stick to .com, .org, or country-specific ones that align with my audience. Countries can change their registration rules anytime, which might cause issues down the line. I think .to is probably safe, but it's still worth considering!

Onboarding ccTLDs like .to takes time since they have unique characteristics that make it complicated. Porkbun is working on adding it, but it’s a lengthy process. It's good to know they are trying, though!

Interesting point! It sounds like some backend changes could make the onboarding easier for Porkbun. Let’s hope they get it done soon!

If Porkbun doesn't support the .to TLD, transferring it over won’t be an option. Check out tldes.com/to to find registrars that do support it!

Just so you know, two-letter TLDs like .to are country-specific, which could be a reason Porkbun doesn't offer it yet. That makes sense, right?
