I'm looking to upgrade from my RX 6500 XT to an RTX 5060, but I'm concerned about potential performance issues since my motherboard only supports PCIe 3.0. I'm using an ASRock H510M-HVS R2.0 with a 10th gen Core i5, and I'm wondering if the performance hit will be noticeable enough that I should consider a different GPU instead. Can anyone provide insights on this?

While PCIe 3.0 versus 5.0 can affect performance, it may not be too drastic if you're playing at lower resolutions like 1080p. If you're tight on budget, you could look into motherboards like the Intel B580, which might offer better compatibility with newer GPUs.
Yes, there are a few factors that could affect performance based on your setup. The RTX 5060 has 8GB of VRAM, and if you're playing games that require more than that, the system will have to use system RAM, which can slow things down due to the reliance on the PCIe bus. Additionally, the card operates on 8 lanes of PCIe bandwidth, which means it will be slower than its full potential when used on a PCIe 3.0 motherboard. Also, don't forget that your older CPU might create its own bottlenecks. If possible, consider a GPU with at least 12GB of VRAM to mitigate some of these issues. I was going to mention that video as well. Just an important point: if OP is gaming at 1080p and manages textures wisely, performance might not dip too much. As long as they stay under the 8GB VRAM limit, they should be okay!

The only 12GB card I can afford right now is the 3060, but I've read that it might lose about 20% performance compared to the 5060.
