Hey everyone! I recently purchased an MSI GeForce RTX 5080 VENTUS 3X OC PLUS and I'm wondering if my Corsair TX850M 850W Gold Semi Modular power supply, which I bought back in 2020, can support it. The PSU only came with 2x8 pin PCIe cables, and I've been getting mixed answers online. Any insights would be appreciated! Also, just a quick note, I meant to say 'PSU help' in the subject, not 'hell' haha!

Check this link for compatibility to see if the adapter will work with your TX850M: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/pc-components-accessories/cp-8920348/corsair-type-4-psu-90-12v-2x6-style-b-cable-cp-8920348. But be aware that I don’t see the TX850M listed there, so you might want to double-check or look for alternatives.
You'll need to use an adapter to connect the GPU since your PSU only has the 2x8 pin cables. It should work fine with two cables, just make sure one is daisy-chained into the adapter. That's a common setup for these types of cards.
Honestly, I recommend getting a new PSU. There’s a lot of talk about the new 12vhpwr connector melting the power ports on GPUs. I’d personally avoid using a pigtail adapter on anything that draws more power than a 5070. I've seen more cases of melting when using older PSUs with adapters compared to those running direct cables from the PSU. It's not foolproof, but it seems like the safer option.
