I found an old hard drive from a computer that's around 12 years old. I'm curious about what I can do with it. Is there a way to access the data? Do I need any special tools, or is it just too tricky and expensive to bother? Should I just smash it instead?

First off, what type of connectors does the hard drive have? If you can share a picture, that'd help. You might be able to grab a USB enclosure for it on eBay and easily access your data.
