Choosing the Right Frontend Framework for My SaaS Project

Hey everyone! I'm a backend developer mainly working with Go, and I've been developing the backend for a SaaS project. Now I'm at the stage where I need to select a frontend framework. My background is mostly in backend, so I'm feeling a bit lost about which frontend tech to go for. I've heard a lot of praise for React, while Vue gets a lot of mentions for its simplicity. I've also stumbled upon Svelte and Angular, though I haven't experimented with them myself. I'm looking for a framework that's maintainable in the long run (nothing too trendy), has a solid ecosystem (libraries, UI components, decent documentation), and plays well with SaaS features like dashboards, authentication, and multi-tenant UI setups. Ideally, I'd prefer something that doesn't have a steep learning curve since I'm not super savvy on the frontend. Thanks for any insights you can share!

Honestly, if you're a Go developer, you might find Vue the most straightforward and pleasant to work with. It's user-friendly and keeps things simple. While React is becoming more complex and sometimes overwhelming, Vue is much easier to understand and maintain, especially if you focus on its core guidelines. Plus, there's a supportive community ready to help you out!

While Vue has its charms, there are merits to React that can't be overlooked given its popularity in the job market. If you're looking for widespread acceptance and plenty of UI components, React might be a safer bet. Angular has its own complexities, so it's probably best to avoid that for now, especially if you want something that's less of a boilerplate mess. Overall, pick a tech stack you feel excited about and dive in!

Vue really is the easiest to pick up and has a robust ecosystem, just second to React. For a solo developer new to frontend, it's an ideal choice. Vue is quite comprehensive and has a solid library choice, especially with NuxtUI as a popular go-to. React has a large ecosystem too but can get complicated with its rendering model. If you plan on hiring developers later, then React might be the way to go. But for starting out, I'd lean towards Vue.

I totally support this! I think Vue can really help you hit the ground running.

Thanks for the solid advice! I'm leaning towards Vue myself since I need something straightforward to start.

If you're exploring options, SolidJS is a cool alternative, but it might be too advanced right now. Just remember, any of the major frameworks will work fine. I'd suggest you try a small project with each framework to see which one fits your style best. Spending a couple of days on this will save you headaches down the line!

+1 for Solid! I've been using it a lot and it's been great.

I was in a similar spot recently and decided to go with React. It's great, but I've also looked into Vue and it seems really fun to work with. The main advantage React has is its popularity; you see it everywhere, especially in job listings. That said, if you're focused on ease of use and getting things done quickly, I’d recommend Vue. It simplifies many tasks and is generally easier to learn than React.
