Best Upgrade Options from Ryzen 5 5600X

I've noticed that my Ryzen 5 5600X is beginning to bottleneck my system, so I'm considering an upgrade. I'm curious about what the best upgrade path would be right now, especially with the current market conditions. While upgrading to AM5 seems pricey, I've also looked into the 5800X3D, but it's hard to find at a reasonable price. I'm contemplating switching to an Intel setup with DDR4 support since I already have 32GB of RAM to reuse. Alternatively, I could go for the 5800X, but I'm not sure if the performance gain would be worth it. I live in Germany, so local pricing might influence options too. Any advice would be appreciated!

If you can swing it, getting the Ryzen 7 5800X3D could be a big upgrade, and it might be cheaper than switching to a complete Intel setup. Just keep an eye out for used options to save some cash. The price-to-performance ratio leans in favor of the 5800X3D compared to a whole new Intel build. It'll definitely tide you over until you switch to AM5 in a few years.

Used 5800X3Ds are going for around $500 now, which is pretty steep, considering they were around $250 before they got discontinued. If you look at the 14700K or 14600K, they could be great alternatives, especially since you'd only need a budget motherboard and could still use your DDR4 RAM.

The AM4 X3Ds have been out of stock for months too. Looks like they've stopped production completely, and the used ones are gone in a flash.

I'm in a similar boat! I game at 4K with an RTX 5080 and 32GB of RAM. At that level, I feel mostly GPU-bound, so I'm torn between waiting for AM5 or just going for the 5800X.

Finding a 5800X3D at a reasonable price is tricky right now; they're marked up quite a bit. Going with the 14600K and a new motherboard might be wise, although you should also get a better cooler since it tends to run hot.

You might want to consider the 5700X3D as an option. However, if you're looking for a solid upgrade, switching to the Intel i5-14600K or 14700K could be a great move since they offer good performance with DDR4 support.

I’d say the i5-14600K is your best bet. It provides excellent performance, and you can stick with DDR4. Just make sure your cooling is up to snuff! Also, remember that if RAM prices drop, you might be stuck on that platform.
