While searching for guitar fingering techniques, Google suddenly showed a message saying SafeSearch was enabled. I never turned it on, and the option to disable it is missing. Google says the setting may be controlled by a parent, administrator, browser, network, or device, but there are no parental controls, network changes, or work or school accounts involved. How can I find out what enabled it and turn it off?

Check whether the browser or Google account is managed by an employer or school. Managed accounts and devices can enforce SafeSearch remotely. If this is only a private account and personal device, that probably isn’t the cause.
Your internet provider or home router may be applying a family filter. Some broadband apps include permissions or content-filtering settings that can force SafeSearch for every device on the network. Check the provider’s app and router settings, disable any family or content restrictions, then restart the browser.
I use Sky broadband, so I’ll check its app and look for any permissions or filtering settings that may have been enabled.
I only use one private account, and it isn’t connected to an employer or school.
