Hi! I'm trying to download the GClip VST, but the download is blocked with a "Virus detected" message. McAfee came preinstalled on my laptop, and Windows Defender is also enabled. I'm using Brave, so I'm not sure whether the browser or one of the antivirus programs is stopping it. The download controls are disabled, and I'm wondering how to verify the file and safely proceed if it's a false positive.

Some browsers let you keep an uncommon download through the download menu, but a “Virus detected” message usually means the antivirus software blocked it rather than simply warning that the file is unfamiliar. Check that you downloaded GClip from the developer’s official site, scan the file with multiple reputable services, and only consider restoring or allowing it if the source and results are trustworthy. Don’t leave antivirus protection disabled afterward.
In this case, Brave’s safe-browsing feature and McAfee’s real-time protection were both blocking the file. Temporarily changing those settings allowed the download, but it’s safer to verify the installer first, scan it with Windows Defender and another scanner, and turn every protection feature back on immediately afterward. If the file still triggers warnings, contact the developer or look for a signed, updated download instead of forcing it through.
It wasn’t the usual uncommon-download warning—the resume option was completely disabled. I checked the file with a multi-engine scanner afterward, and it reported no detections.
