I'm posting for the first time here, and I'm hoping to get some clarity on a weird situation. Since this morning, I've been receiving calls from unknown numbers every 15 minutes. When I answer, there's actually a person on the line, but they say I called them. This has freaked me out a bit! One guy suggested that my number might be compromised. Can someone explain what that means? Is there any way to stop these calls? I'm confused about how my number could have been compromised in the first place. Any help would really be appreciated!

These calls should die down in a few days or weeks. Scammers often change up numbers and try to make them look local. There might also be settings on your call app that can block unknown callers.
Some posts here sound like the typical scammer talk, but don’t worry too much. It's likely just someone playing tricks and not a real compromise.
It sounds like someone is just spoofing your number. Scammers can make calls appear to come from any number, even yours. It’s not something you did and your information isn’t compromised. Just unlucky timing!
Honestly, this is really reassuring. It kinda freaked me out at first but so long as it’s just some annoying calls for the next little while, I can deal with it. Thanks so much 🙂
I've had a similar experience before, where I got calls from random numbers too. I just ignored them and eventually, it stopped. It's a hassle, but these things often blow over.
If you're really worried, you could always back up your data and do a factory reset. Just to be safe!
I’m out of town for a couple of days, so I can’t back up right away, but I’ll definitely consider that once I’m back.
So I don’t have to do anything? I can deal with the calls for a bit as long as there’s no risk to my personal data.
