I have a replica WWII American tankers helmet that I want to use for streaming. I've purchased some 40mm cardio speakers to install, but I'm having issues with sound direction while gaming. I can only hear sound clearly when I'm looking directly at the target. Does anyone have solutions for improving the audio experience in this setup? I don't have much knowledge about computers or audio settings.

You might want to look into some wireless earbuds or sleek in-ear monitors (IEMs). They could fit better in the helmet and offer a clearer audio experience during gaming.
Have you considered cannibalizing an actual headset? If there's enough space in the helmet, you could mount the speakers where they would normally sit when worn on your head. That might help with directional sound.
That’s a solid idea! With some modifications, it should work. I put in some Logitech headset foam for comfort, but I’ve got to figure out how to fit the speakers properly inside.

I’ve had issues with regular earbuds not staying put during gaming. Have you had better luck with IEMs?
