I'm a beginner looking to set up a dual boot system on my main PC. I currently have Windows 11 installed and I'm considering installing a Linux distribution like Debian or Ubuntu alongside it. I have a 1TB SSD and I'm thinking about allocating around 250GB to Linux. I'm not a fan of using VMware because it doesn't feel like a real setup for me. What are your thoughts and experiences with dual booting in this scenario?

If you want to dual boot on a single SSD, you’ll need to shrink your Windows partition to make space for Linux. Just make sure if you're using Windows BitLocker, you have the key handy to avoid any data loss. You might also want to back up your system before diving in. I wouldn't recommend dual booting on the same SSD if you can avoid it. It can be tricky to set up, and Windows tends to mess with the boot partition, which could create issues. If you have the option, using separate disks would be way easier and more stable.
