I'm replacing my broken Asrock B450m with a new Asrock B550m motherboard. I've read that I might need to update the BIOS and reinstall Windows, but since my current PC can't boot to Windows and I don't have another device to download the necessary files, I'm wondering if I can simply install the new motherboard and boot up to Windows. Will that even work?

Before you swap, make sure you know what CPU you have. The B550 boards only support Ryzen 3000 series and newer processors. If your CPU is compatible, it should boot without needing a BIOS update. Normally, replacing the motherboard is pretty straightforward – just remove the old board, plug in the new one, and if everything is compatible, Windows should recognize it just fine.
Oh yeah, I can't believe I forgot to mention the CPU. It's a Ryzen 7 5700x.
