Can I use a USB to Aux cable with my monitor for sound?

I recently upgraded my gaming setup with a new monitor, but I noticed it doesn't have an Aux port for audio. It does have a USB port, so I found a USB to Aux cable online. I'm wondering if this setup will actually work for getting sound from my monitor. Just a heads up, I don't have a PC, which is why I'm facing this issue in the first place.

Just a heads up, the USB ports on monitors are typically powered by a connected PC. You won't be able to get audio from a USB to Aux setup unless your monitor is linked to a device that recognizes the USB DAC. For that to happen, you'd need a direct USB connection to a computer, or a USB-C connection that isn't just an adapter from HDMI or DisplayPort.

Oh okay, thanks for clarifying that!

First off, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Does your monitor even have built-in speakers? That could save you some hassle right there if it doesn't!

I have speakers set up separately and was hoping to use them for audio from the monitor.

Tip: First, check if your monitor actually has speakers built-in. If it doesn’t, you'll need to find a workaround to get sound, rather than relying on a USB to Aux cable.
