Hey everyone! I'm facing a frustrating issue where my laptop gets these annoying ping spikes every few minutes while I game. We're talking spikes around 200-250 ms that last for about 10 seconds, and they seem to be worst in Counter Strike. I've also noticed it in Rainbow 6 Siege, but the spikes aren't as severe there (about 100 ms). The weird part is that I don't have this problem at all when playing on my PS5. My internet provider has checked things and says there's nothing wrong on their end. I'm on a WiFi connection (which I know isn't ideal), and while I typically get around 400Mbps down and 80Mbps up, I can't use Ethernet right now. For what it's worth, my laptop has a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card that's up to date, and it's an ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507RR with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H and RTX 3070. Any suggestions would be super helpful, thanks!

It’s interesting that you’re seeing these ping spikes only on your laptop. Remember that latency and bandwidth aren't directly connected, so having good speeds doesn’t always mean you’ll have low ping. Can you try using Ethernet for testing, even if just temporarily? It might help identify if the issue is with your WiFi setup.
Have you checked your WiFi settings? Sometimes adjusting the ‘roaming aggressiveness’ can make a difference in stability. It might be worth disabling it to see if that helps with the spikes.
I don’t think I’ve tried that. I played with my network settings before but I can’t remember seeing that option. I’ll definitely look into it when I get home.
I could move my laptop downstairs to try Ethernet. Do you think that would actually resolve the issue? My PS5 is further away and it works fine!
