Hey everyone, I'm new here and just kind of hoping for some guidance. In 2020, I got a gaming laptop that came with FreeDOS, and I personally installed Windows. At that time, I wasn't super knowledgeable and ended up splitting the internal drive into two partitions. Over time, those partitions filled up, so I bought an external SSD for my games. Even then, my internal Windows partition still felt cramped.
Eventually, I merged the partitions on my internal drive, but that seems to have started a chain reaction of issues. I decided to format my entire PC today, backing up some drivers to my SSD and installing Windows 11 cleanly.
The problem is that now my external monitor is not performing as it should. I have my built-in laptop screen and a 27-inch 240 Hz external monitor connected via HDMI 2.0. Before formatting, everything looked great. But now, the external monitor seems like it's capped at 60 FPS with a blurry and poor-quality image. I've checked all the settings, and everything indicates it's on 240 Hz, plus my drivers are up to date. But I'm still facing severe FPS drops in games, making them nearly unplayable.
What do you guys think went wrong? Did I mess something up during the format?

It sounds like you might want to try using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove your GPU drivers and then reinstall them. Sometimes conflicts can arise when changing partitions or drivers. If you've merged your partitions recently, that can lead to some unexpected issues too. Give it a shot and see if it helps!

I’ll definitely try that! Just to confirm, should I uninstall both NVIDIA and Intel drivers with DDU, or just NVIDIA? And could these driver conflicts cause my FPS problems?
