How Can I Listen to MLB Playoffs at Work with No Cell Service?

I recently started a job in a lab where I can only have one earbud in while working. The catch is that there's zero cell phone reception in the building, and I can't access the Wi-Fi either since all the networks are locked, including the 'guest' network! With my shifts overlapping the MLB playoffs, I'd love to find a way to stream radio broadcasts to my Samsung phone while I'm working. What are my options?

Could you possibly switch providers for better service? If you have access to an Ethernet port, you could use a travel router to create your own Wi-Fi, but that might not sit well with IT. Alternatively, if your phone supports it, you can use a dongle to connect to wired Ethernet. Just be careful, as bypassing IT rules can get you in trouble!

It's tricky, but if you can find a spot with even a bar of cell service, you might stash your phone there and connect to it using another device like a tablet. You could use hotspot mode on your phone and link your earbuds to the tablet. If you're extra creative, you could even set up multiple devices in strategic places to extend the signal!

Before you do anything, maybe try asking IT about their policy on personal devices. You could explain you want to comply with their rules while also being able to catch the games. Plus, they might surprise you with some helpful options!

If you're just looking to listen to the broadcasts, why not just grab a simple AM/FM radio? It’s a low-tech solution but effective and doesn't involve any networks! Plus, you won't have to fiddle around with Wi-Fi connections.
