How Can I Make My Smart TV Work Without WiFi?

I recently moved in with my boyfriend into a shared house, and while we can connect our phones to the WiFi just fine, our Hisense smart TV isn't cooperating. It's been frustrating because we've been using our phones and laptop to catch up on Netflix and YouTube, but we really want to use our TV. I'm wondering if there's any way to use the TV without connecting it to WiFi. I've heard something about Apple TV+ allowing you to cast shows from your phone, but I'm a bit lost on how that works. Any suggestions?

Did you make sure to update your TV's WiFi settings after moving? Sometimes it’s an easy fix. The TV should connect to the same network your phones use.

Well, we have two WiFi boxes, and our phones connect to one (called VM5), but the TV only recognizes the other box (Sky), which doesn't have internet access.

It’s weird your TV isn't connecting to WiFi. Have you considered getting a standalone streaming device like a Roku or Apple TV? They usually have better reception than smart TVs.

I've never used a standalone streaming box. If my laptop picks up WiFi just fine, would a box probably work too?

You have a few options here! First, you could use your phone as a hotspot and connect your TV to it. If that doesn't work, think about a wired solution; you can connect a device directly to the TV and stream from there. Also, check if your TV has features like Miracast or Anyview Cast to wirelessly project your phone screen. Just remember to check the user guide for instructions!

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Not sure what casting options are pre-installed since I've never had to look into it before.
