I just bought a Lenovo laptop with Ubuntu, but I've forgotten the password. I've only set up a username and password, and I'm worried I might have accidentally thrown away the note where I wrote it down. Is there any way to factory reset it, or how should I move forward? Am I out of luck here?

Do you still have your boot media? You can use it to access recovery options or live mode.
If you have a USB drive, you can boot from that and then change the password on your laptop. There are plenty of YouTube videos that can guide you through the process.
What's boot media? Is it the terminal-looking screen?
