My dad called me today really frustrated because he did something to his phone that messed up the keyboard. Specifically, when he tries to text, the bar that shows what he's typing isn't showing up with the keyboard; instead, it's hidden behind it. The keyboard looks off-center and seems skinnier than usual, which made me think he might have accidentally turned on One-Handed Mode. However, when I asked him to look for it in his settings, he said he couldn't find it. He has a Moto G Power 5G, and I'm helping him figure this out over calls and texts since we don't live close. I'm also considering using screen sharing to see what's going on. Any advice would be super helpful!

The previous poster has a point, but before doing anything, it might also be worth restarting the phone. Sometimes that fixes small glitches right away.
We managed to solve it! I guided him to open Settings, then Apps, find Gboard, and select "clear storage." Doing that instantly fixed the issue. Phew!
If he’s having keyboard problems, clearing the app storage is definitely a good move! Just a heads up though, he’ll lose any personalized settings and learned words. Also, if you can screen share through WhatsApp, that might help you troubleshoot better!
Hey, did he maybe install a different keyboard app? That could be another reason for the issue.
