How do I create desktop shortcuts on Linux Mint?

I just installed Linux Mint and I'm new to the system. I've been having fun downloading applications like Blender, which I extracted from a .tar.xz file I downloaded. While I can open it through the executable, I want to create a desktop or taskbar shortcut for easier access. In Windows, I would just right-click to make a shortcut, but I don't see that option on Mint. Can someone guide me on how to do this?

Instead of downloading apps from websites, you should really try using the Software Manager. It's much simpler and ensures compatibility. I believe Blender is available there, and you'll have a smoother experience without manual installations.

Just remember, Linux doesn’t operate with .exe files like Windows. It's better to use the add/remove programs feature to get Blender installed properly. Create a shortcut by finding the application in your menu, right-click on it, and see if there’s an option to add it to your desktop.

If you want to create a shortcut manually, go to the folder where Blender is located. You can hold down the Ctrl key and click on the Blender executable to highlight it—then press Ctrl + M to create a shortcut link. Move that link to your Desktop, and you’ll have quick access! Also, you can add it to the menu for even easier access later.
