How do I start building a gaming PC from scratch as a complete beginner?

I'm completely new to building PCs and I can't afford a prebuilt one all at once. I prefer to buy parts gradually so I can get it done quickly. I want a solid white setup for gaming, especially for heavy games like Fortnite and Sims 4, which have huge mod files. My current Mac struggles with these games, and since I also play Fortnite on Xbox, I don't want to compromise on graphics quality—good visuals are important for my eyes. I'm also interested in streaming, so having a powerful machine is essential. Plus, I want a nice mechanical keyboard and a decent monitor. Honestly, I'm struggling to figure out the vital components I need for the PC because I don't know the names of any parts. I can find someone to help assemble it later, but right now I'm lost!

It sounds like you're on the right track thinking about your needs! It might be helpful to start researching the basics of PC components—like the CPU, GPU, RAM, and so on—so you can make informed choices. There are tons of YouTube videos that break this down well. Also, consider watching videos from content creators like Jackfrags; they can provide great advice on building gaming PCs!

Before diving into buying, make sure you know the basics of what a gaming PC needs. The crucial components are the CPU (processor), GPU (graphics card), RAM (memory), and a good power supply. Let me know your budget, and I can help suggest some components!

I suggest saving up and getting everything at once instead of piecing it together. If you buy parts one by one, you might encounter issues during the build and risk missing the return window on any defective parts. A prebuilt setup could save you a lot of hassle, too. Just a thought!

I appreciate your advice! I might consider that if the research gets too overwhelming.
