How Much Should I Charge for Building a Website?

I was approached by a fashion tech company to build their website. They've already got the UI design ready in Figma, and my job will be to handle the development side, including adding animations (using Framer Motion or GSAP), integrating a CMS, working with the Shopify API, ensuring responsive design, and deploying the site. The project scope is around 5 to 6 main pages that need a high-quality, animated feel. I'm based in India, and they're in the UK. Since I'm relatively new to freelancing, I'm unsure how to quote the project. I'd like advice on: 1. what a reasonable hourly rate would be for this tech stack and international client setup, 2. how many hours experienced developers typically estimate for projects like this, and 3. whether I should propose a fixed price or an hourly rate for the build.

Hey, you might want to think about starting with an hourly rate since this is your first project. Aim for something around $25 to $50 per hour depending on your skills and the client’s budget. If you have experience with React and integrations, you could justify a higher rate. Just make sure you're comfortable with whatever quote you decide on!

It's really tough to give a quote without more details about the project scope. If the complexity of the e-commerce website increases—like including user authentication, payment integration with Stripe, and a CMS—the cost will definitely rise. But if it’s just a simple static site with some animations, you might be looking at a few thousand dollars. You should try to describe everything you’ll be doing in more detail to get a better estimate.

Agreed! Knowing the specific requirements makes it easier to estimate the time and effort.
