Hey everyone! I'm using an Asus TUF Gaming B550M Plus WiFi II motherboard, and I'm trying to figure out how to get 5.1 surround sound from the S/PDIF output. When I check the Realtek audio console, I can't find any options to enable this feature. It seems like it's only allowing me to use the 3.5mm jacks for audio. I heard that there's a Realtek software called 'Audio Manager' that might help with configuring output formats, but I'm not sure what version of the codec I need or if this approach will even work. Has anyone encountered this issue or knows how to tackle it?

To get 5.1 sound from your SPDIF output, you'll need to send the signal to an audio processor like a home theater receiver. Your motherboard will need to be connected to a compatible receiver that can handle surround sound. Just make sure your settings are correct on both ends!
Just a heads up, SPDIF typically outputs either stereo PCM or Dolby Digital/DTS. So, while it may seem like you're getting sound from all speakers when you select different formats, it may not be true 5.1 surround sound. You might need to look into how your audio settings are configured to be sure.
That's interesting! I did play around in the Realtek properties and managed to get sound through all speakers, but I guess I need to confirm what format I'm getting.

I do have a home theater system, but I'm really curious if I can get it working solely through the motherboard's outputs.
