I clicked a suspicious link and I’m freaking out! Am I safe?

Hey everyone, I was browsing Twitter and stumbled upon this strange Japanese gameshow video. Out of curiosity, I clicked on it to see what it was about, but it redirected me to another tab that closed automatically. In a panic, I unplugged my computer from the internet. I ran scans with Malwarebytes and Windows Defender, but they found nothing. I checked my Chrome extensions and startup settings, and everything looks normal. However, when I checked the site on Scam Advisor, it reported it as extremely untrusted, and Virus Total flagged it as malicious with two scanners. I'm really anxious about whether my computer is compromised. If I connect back to the internet or restart my PC, am I at risk? I genuinely need some reassurance and advice on what to do!

You should be alright! Just make sure you've got an adblocker installed on another browser like Firefox or Brave. That can help prevent any more mishaps. Remember, real malware is sneaky and usually wouldn't make itself obvious right after clicking a link.

Lol, now you'll forever get redirected to weird gameshows! But seriously, just remember, clicking a bad link doesn't mean you're infected as long as you didn’t download anything. You took the right steps, so try not to worry too much!

Take a deep breath! It's likely that your PC is fine. Just clicking a link usually doesn't mean malware got on your system unless you downloaded something. You've done the right thing by running scans, and since nothing showed up, that's a good sign. If you're still worried, you can clear your browser cache, but I say you can safely reconnect to the internet. Just keep an eye out for anything unusual, and you'll probably be okay!
