Is it okay to hire a frontend developer for my personal website?

As a backend developer, I usually focus on automating processes for clients, and while I do build websites for these projects, my design skills leave something to be desired. I've been working on my own portfolio site recently, but I'm struggling to turn all my ideas and inspirations into a cohesive design. I've thought about hiring a designer to help me out, but I worry that it might seem inappropriate for a developer to outsource design work. Am I overthinking this?

Hiring a designer actually makes perfect sense. You can always credit them on your site, like saying, 'I focus on backend solutions, but for the visuals, I collaborated with a designer.' It showcases that you appreciate professional design.

If your site is meant to attract clients, it’s smart to invest in a designer to make it look polished. Remember, think of it as investing in your business! But if you enjoy the design process, don't hesitate to give it a shot yourself too.

You’re just tapping into a division of labor! It's like a frontend dev bringing in a graphic designer for mockups. Each of us has our strengths, so hiring someone who can help is totally legit.

Preach! Mastery in one area doesn’t mean you have to do it all.

Using a pre-designed template could also save you time and look good enough. Just modify it to fit your style. If all else fails, hiring a designer is an awesome option without any shame in it!

No worries about hiring someone! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting a frontend developer or designer to help shape your vision. It shows that you recognize the value of different skill sets. Just ensure you find someone whose work impresses you and who you can trust.
