I'm building my first website for a client, and it's pretty basic without a backend. On the products page, customers can add items to their cart, enter their phone number and address, and when they hit the 'order via WhatsApp' button, it opens a chat with the business including their order details as a message. I've heard from someone that this method might not be entirely legal and could even lead to security issues like trojans on a user's phone. However, everything I found online indicates that using wa.me links is safe. Can anyone clarify?

Using wa.me is perfectly safe since it's an official WhatsApp link designed for this purpose. You can confidently use it on your site!
I’ve set it up for a couple of clients too, and I haven’t had a single complaint. It’s a reliable option.
Yeah, wa.me is legit and supported by WhatsApp. I've used it for clients before without any issues. Anyone claiming otherwise is probably misinformed.
It’s definitely safe and legal to use wa.me. Just keep in mind that the way you're implementing it might not be the best user experience.
I didn't ask about user experience! Just wanted to know if it's secure.
