Is my CPU overheating in my new PC build?

I just built my new PC with a Ryzen 5 9600X, a 9060XT, and 32GB DDR5 RAM. I installed all the drivers and applied the thermal paste carefully, making sure not to use too much. Everything runs smoothly, especially in high-ultra settings on Warzone. However, I've noticed my CPU usage spikes to 100%, and the temperature reaches around 70-80°C. After about 5-10 minutes in the game, my PC freezes completely, requiring a restart. My GPU temperatures seem normal, so I'm wondering if my CPU is overheating or if there might be another issue at play.

As long as your thermal paste is non-conductive, there's really no such thing as "too much" in terms of temperature. Any excess just gets pushed out; it's a bit messy but better than not enough. Just saying, from my experience building PCs, it sounds like you did everything correctly.

Yeah, I thought I followed all the right steps!

What DDR5 RAM are you using? And is EXPO enabled? Also, I'm curious about your storage—do you have an M.2 SSD? Does it come with a heatsink, and how hot does it get under load during gaming?

I have Corsair Vengeance 6400MHz, and yes, it's a 1TB M.2. The temperature stays pretty stable when the freezing occurs.

Those temps aren't too bad for a Ryzen 5 9600X. It's good to monitor the temperatures right before it crashes. Typically, AMD CPUs will throttle at about 95°C, so if it's shutting down, there could be a problem with your cooler or how it's installed. By the way, what cooler are you using?

I’m using a Cooler Master Hyper 212.

Just so you know, rather than shutting down, it seems like it’s freezing instead, which could mean something else is going on.
