Hey everyone! I'm a high school student planning to study engineering and eventually become a web developer. I've built a very minimalist portfolio that you can check out at classydev.fr. However, I've been feeling anxious about job opportunities and I keep seeing these super elaborate portfolios on social media. I'm curious—do job recruiters in the EU, especially in France, really care about how a portfolio looks? Is a simple one enough, or should I strive for something more visually impressive? I know experience is crucial, but does the design of my portfolio matter too? Thanks for any insights!

You've done well, especially at this age! While your portfolio does matter, what really gets you hired is how you perform in skills assessments during interviews. Keep improving your skills and you'll be fine!
Your portfolio looks solid! Just keep in mind that if an employer happens upon any NSFW content, like anime sites, that could negatively impact their perception of you. It might be better to remove that to be safe.
Thanks for that encouragement! You're right; it sounds like the tests really are crucial.
