Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy a domain through Porkbun and connect it to Vercel for building a professional website. As a soon-to-be college grad, my budget is a bit tight, but I'm okay with spending around $11 for a .com or $10 for a .org domain. Do you think it's worth getting both domains? Also, is Vercel the right hosting choice? I've heard that it might be better to keep the domain and website separate. My Vercel account is linked to my GitHub, but I'm not sure if that's the best setup for someone like me who's more familiar with programming than with web development. Any suggestions or advice would be really helpful!

Have you considered Cloudflare? They offer domain registration and hosting services that are not only faster but also packed with features. It might be a better value than going with Vercel.
Buying a domain is pretty flexible; you can also consider options like .dev for developer sites. If you're budget-conscious, try using AstroJS or Eleventy to create a static site and deploy it through Netlify. Their GitHub integration is great for testing your changes before they go live, and you can use their free tier without worrying too much about costs!
Good to know! I didn’t realize Netlify had such a user-friendly setup.
Honestly, if you're short on cash, I wouldn't recommend Vercel. I bought my domain from Porkbun but host my site on Cloudflare, which has been fantastic for performance. Vercel can be a bit pricey if you're just starting out.
Cloudflare usually offers a better deal than Vercel, so it might be worth checking out. You can opt to buy your domain through them or stick with Porkbun—just be mindful that some services might limit your nameserver changes.

Totally agree, Cloudflare is the way to go!
