Looking for Advice on Upgrading My Graphics Card

Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card as my current GTX 970 is starting to struggle with the games I love, like Baldur's Gate 3 and 7 Days to Die. My PC was built around 2011 by my older brother, and since then, I've only recently upgraded my motherboard and RAM. I've heard about the new 5080 but it's way too expensive at $800. I'm trying to decide between the 5060 and the 9060xt, which are both around the same price. Could anyone share the pros and cons of these two cards? Also, here are my current specs: I have an AMD Ryzen 7 motherboard, two 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks, a Rosewill Thor V3 case, and a 2TB SSD for storage. I usually play at 1080p and turn off extras like ray tracing since they give me motion sickness. Any help would be appreciated!

Based on your specs, both cards should work fine. Since you're playing at 1080p and don't care much about all the high-end graphics settings, you won't need a 5080. A 5060 or 9060xt will serve you well, especially if you're on a budget. Just make sure your case has enough space for the new card, especially if you go with the larger 9060xt!

Spacing won't be an issue, the Rosewill Thor V3 has decent room. Thanks for confirming!

Make sure to double-check the power requirements for both cards before purchasing. The 9060xt generally requires more power, so just be sure your PSU can handle it. It's really about your priorities—if you want to save some cash and still get decent performance, the 5060 could be a better fit for you.

Also, keep in mind that you're in the US. Prices can vary significantly based on availability, so checking local stores or trusted online retailers might save you some money. It's worth doing some price comparisons before you decide!

Absolutely, I'll look around! Thanks for the tip!

The 5060 is great for DLSS and ray tracing, while the 9060xt provides raw performance that's quite impressive. If you're okay with lowering graphics settings sometimes, the 9060xt might be the better choice for overall performance. Just consider that the 5060 has a bit more future-proofing with those features, but the 9060xt can handle most games without issues.

Thanks for breaking that down! I think I lean towards better performance, so the 9060xt sounds appealing.
