Looking for Affordable Hosting Options for Small Projects

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a hosting solution for a bunch of my personal passion projects. I mainly work with Python Flask and Node.js, along with some other common frameworks. The key things I need are minimal or ideally no spinup time when accessing my projects. Currently, I'm using Render, which has been good, but I'm really annoyed by the minute-long spinup time when I try to load my sites. Plus, their premium plan is $20 a month, which feels a bit steep. I'd love to find a free option, but I'm open to spending around $5 a month if necessary. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Another route is to get a VPS and dockerize your applications. It gives you a lot of control and flexibility for running multiple projects.

For small projects like yours, both PythonAnywhere and Fly.io offer decent free tiers. PythonAnywhere is fantastic for Flask, while Fly.io works well with both Flask and Node.js. If you can stretch your budget to about $5/month, consider Heroku or a low-cost VPS like Hostinger, which gives you flexibility without breaking the bank. Try the free options first to keep costs manageable!

$20 a month? That’s pretty wild! You might want to just get a VPS; they’re super affordable these days. Companies like IONOS or DigitalOcean have great deals. It's a one-time setup and then you’re free to host as much as you want!

You could check out PythonAnywhere if you're focusing on Flask. It's super straightforward and has a free plan that might fit your needs. Plus, it's specifically designed for Python applications!

I’ve been using a $5 VPS with Nixihost for a while now, and it’s been solid for my projects. It should work well for your requirements too, so definitely worth a look!
