I've got a home server that I can SSH into, and while it's been pretty handy, I've noticed it's sluggish, lacks security, and might not last much longer. I'm in search of a VPS that lets me SSH in and get things done without any complicated control panels that a lot of providers use. Ideally, I want it to run on Fedora Linux, and I'd like root access, but I can manage without if it means getting the job done.

I highly recommend Webdock! Their cheapest VPS starts at just 1€ per month, and you can customize it to your needs. Plus, it gets set up in just a few minutes.
Check out Linode, Hetzner, and DigitalOcean. Those are solid options that keep things straightforward.
When picking a VPS, make sure they have data centers nearby for the best latency. I'm using DigitalOcean, and it works great for me, but Hetzner has a good presence in my area, which makes a difference.
DigitalOcean is definitely what you want for easy access and decent pricing.
You can pretty much choose Fedora with any VPS provider. I'm loving Hetzner right now, but there are plenty of good hosts out there.
