I just received a new computer for my birthday, and it came with Windows 11. I'm planning to install Linux Mint because I'm really not a fan of Windows. Since I just set everything up, I want to make sure I do it right and avoid any potential issues. Any advice on the installation process?

Installing Linux Mint is completely safe! Even if it turns out you don't like it, you can always switch back to Windows. Just make sure to log in to Windows at least once for activation. If you're ready to start, here's a great tutorial that walks you through the installation process: [link].

The simplest way to install Linux Mint is to flash the ISO to a USB stick. If you're looking to dual-boot with Windows, you'll want to create a partition first.

Just a heads up, back up any important files before you start the installation. It's better to be safe than sorry!

Why did you specifically choose Mint? Also, what kind of video card does your system have? Knowing your requirements can help tailor the advice better. For instance, if you play games on Steam, it might be worth considering those too.

I get your frustration with Windows 11. However, have you thought about trying another distribution like Kubuntu? I’ve mentioned some reasons for considering alternatives in other threads.
