Hey everyone! My 2012 MacBook is starting to struggle with new programs, so I'm thinking it's time to switch to Linux. I mainly use my laptop for browsing, writing, making music, and occasionally playing games. I've heard that I can run Windows games using Steam on some distributions like Ubuntu. Also, I love using Ableton and would like to know if there's a good Linux distro that would support it. Any suggestions? Thanks! 🙂

Fedora works great on my 2015 MacBook Pro, but just so you know, Ableton doesn't have a Linux version. Still, most Windows games can be played on any distro using Proton or Wine. If you're new to Linux, I recommend starting with Mint, Ubuntu, Zorin OS, or Pop!_OS because they have a lot of support.
If you want to check out different Linux distributions, the distro selection page on the Linux4Noobs wiki is super helpful. But just a heads up, Ableton doesn't run natively on Linux. However, you might try using Wine to run it. Just make sure you're comfortable with backups and testing things in a virtual machine before diving in!

Thanks for the info! That's a bummer about Ableton, but I appreciate the distro suggestions!
