Looking to Upgrade My Old Computer Setup

Hey everyone! I'm new to the computer world and transitioning from gaming on consoles. I got a full PC setup from a friend who upgraded, and I've been enjoying games like CS2, Tarkov, and Apex with no issues. However, about a month ago, things started lagging and my screen would glitch out a lot. I'm thinking it's time to upgrade some of the older components. I'd appreciate any recommendations on where to start or if there are quick fixes so I can keep gaming until I can upgrade. Here are the specs of my current setup: 16GB of RAM, Intel i7-4790k CPU, AMD Radeon R9 380 (4GB), Intel Integrated graphics (4600), and 1.14TB of storage. I did switch the startup SSD as advised, but that's when things got glitchy while gaming. Any guidance on how to revert this or suggestions for affordable components would be amazing. Thanks!

Sounds like you might need a complete overhaul, considering your system is pretty dated. You should start by upgrading your GPU, maybe look into a used RX 580 for a good budget option. It’ll pair nicely with your current setup and won’t break the bank. Since your CPU is still decent, make sure to keep your expectations realistic while gaming.

If you do consider a full rebuild later, focusing on a new motherboard and a Ryzen 5 8600G might be a good option. Just keep in mind that it could get expensive!
