Need Help with My Microphone on Linux

I'm feeling pretty desperate here! I recently made the switch from Windows to Linux just a few days ago and have tried several different distributions. The problem is that none of them are capturing any audio from my microphone, which is built into my Logitech C920 webcam. It's the only microphone I have access to right now, and I'm at a loss for what to do next. The microphone is being detected, but it doesn't seem to pick up any sound. What can I try to resolve this?

It sounds frustrating! Just a thought: check if the microphone works with other apps, like testing it in a voice recording program. That could help narrow down if it's a system issue or something else. If it still doesn't work, I'd suggest looking into installing any additional drivers that might be needed for your webcam's microphone.

Good point! It's essential to rule that out. If the mic doesn't work in any app, it might be worthwhile to check the webcam's compatibility with Linux or search for specific drivers.

Have you checked your audio settings? Sometimes, you need to adjust the input devices manually in your audio settings to get the mic working. Also, try running a few commands in the terminal to see if you can get more info on what's happening with your audio devices. It could help identify if it's a driver issue or something else.

Yeah, double-checking those settings can make a huge difference! Also, make sure your microphone volume isn't muted or set too low.
