I've been trying to create a custom mix of songs for my friend by burning them onto a CD using Windows Media Player. I'm selecting the option to burn an audio disc and have experimented with different burn speeds, but I'm running into issues. While the MP3 files play fine on my computer, the CDs keep skipping after about 20 seconds into some songs, though a few play all the way through without issues. I've previously burned a CD successfully using my old laptop, but now I'm having these problems on my newer, more capable PC. Should I switch to my laptop to try again? It would be tough to start over since I've edited each song specifically for this mix. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried using VLC Media Player instead? It's worked great for me on all platforms! You can even increase the buffer cache to help with reading ahead, which might solve your skipping issue. It’s a bit different from other players but very powerful. Definitely worth a shot!
Sounds like you're on the right track with CDBurner XP! Just to double-check, are you burning as an audio CD and not an MP3 data disc? Sometimes, older CD drives have trouble reading certain formats. It might help to use the slowest burn speed possible (ideally between 1-8x) for the best results. Also, make sure you're using CD-Rs instead of CD-RWs, since some older machines can’t read CD-RWs well.
