Upgrading My PC: Should I Get a New CPU or GPU First?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 2600 with a GTX 1650 and I'm a bit worried about potential bottlenecks in my setup. I'm planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 9 5900X and an RTX 4060, but I can't afford to do them both at once. What do you think I should prioritize—should I buy the CPU or the GPU first?

The first thing you should consider is what you primarily use your computer for. If gaming is your main focus, I recommend upgrading your GPU first. Right now, your GTX 1650 is likely the bottleneck for gaming performance. Even a mid-range upgrade like the RTX 3060 would give you a decent boost. However, if you're planning on doing more work tasks—like video editing—then consider whether you really need the 5900X, as you might do just fine with a cheaper option like a Ryzen 5 5600X.

Yeah, I hear you! I was also leaning towards a more recent GPU. Have you thought about the 3070? Sounds like a solid choice!

Honestly, a bottleneck is something you can't avoid completely, but focusing on what you're using the PC for helps. If it’s primarily gaming, getting the GPU upgrade makes a lot of sense. If you’re using it as a workstation, consider what tasks you’ll handle. A Ryzen 5 might offer nearly the same performance as the 5900X for a lot less. Why spend extra if you won’t utilize the power?

Good point! I definitely want to use it as a workstation too. Will the 8-core CPUs hold up?
