What Are Some Options for Temporary Phone Numbers for IoT Device Registration?

I'm managing several IoT devices, specifically car chargers, and each one requires a unique email address and phone number for account registration. I can easily create multiple email addresses, but I'm struggling to find 10 unique phone numbers to register them. I'm looking for suggestions on services that provide temporary or virtual phone numbers that I can use for this purpose. I've considered Twilio, but the 10DLC registration process seems overly complicated for my organization. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Have you checked if the chargers support managing multiple devices with one account? Sometimes you don’t need to register each one separately. A lot of chargers can work offline, but then you miss out on stats and reporting.

Make sure you verify if VoIP numbers are permitted for what you’re doing. Some services have issues with virtual or VoIP numbers, especially when it comes to short codes.

Have you thought about using Google Voice? It might need a primary number for setup, but it can be a solid option. If your organization has Microsoft Teams and related phone plans, you can set them up so texts come through Teams. Switching out DIDs can be a workaround as well!

Yeah, but remember that Google Voice requires an actual phone number for each account. And if you’re thinking about Teams, our domain is managed by the parent company, so I’d rather avoid that hassle.

I'm really surprised the manufacturer doesn't have a bulk registration process for businesses. It could save you a lot of time.

Why not just grab a bunch of prepaid SIM cards? They're usually inexpensive and could save you a lot of hassle.

I’d also suggest looking at SMSPool; they might have what you need for virtual numbers.

Consider checking out Voxtel Systems. You could set up a 3CX instance for free and integrate Voxtel into it. It’s a good way to manage this at a low cost.

Just a heads up—most of the virtual SMS number services often get blocklisted by SMS verifiers because they're recognized as virtual numbers.
