I'm helping my dad get into music production and I started him on Bazzite since it's user-friendly. He's interested in trying out some music making software. Can anyone suggest good options that are available as AppImage or Flatpak/Flathub?

Reaper is a solid choice! It works well on Linux, and you can use some native instruments and effects with it. Plus, if you want to use Windows VSTs, you can do that through yabridge and Wine, but I get that it might be a bit tricky for beginners.

Yeah, I'm not sure if my dad would manage that complexity just yet. He’s only used Bazaar for installing apps so far.
