I'm currently developing a landing page for my game engine and would love to get some feedback on it! While it's still a work in progress—more information and example games will be added—I'm particularly interested in the overall user experience. Here are a few specific points I'd like your thoughts on:
- Does the theme have a good visual appeal?
- Is the background causing any lag for you?
- What are your feelings about the potential for audio on the site? I was thinking about having a dark beat playing in the background with a reactive design (you can test it by loading an audio file located to the right of the navigation bar).
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Honestly, I find the page isn't working well as it is right now. It feels too dark with a lack of contrast, and the fonts are way too small—most of the menu is practically illegible. The interactive background feels more like a gimmick than a feature.
You really need to increase font sizes to at least 20px on desktop and choose a contrasting color for better visibility. The menu items need to be larger, and you might want to ditch the music controller altogether. The copy needs improvement too—make it clear what the engine does, its unique selling points, and why users should choose it over others like Unity or Unreal. Right now, it doesn't sound promising at all!
I think the theme looks really clean! Just be cautious with animated backgrounds, as they can slow down performance on lower-end devices and might distract from the main content.
As for audio, I'd suggest skipping it or making it optional. A lot of users browse with sound off, and auto-playing music can feel intrusive. If you do decide to include audio, be sure to have a clear mute button that's easy to locate.
One recommendation—consider showing your engine in action right at the top. An embedded demo or interactive code snippet could grab attention better than flashy visuals, especially for dev tools. What kind of games are you thinking about showcasing as examples?
Thanks for the input! I might just set the background to be non-animated by default. And yeah, I totally see how music could come off as intrusive. The embedded demo idea is a keeper! I'm planning to showcase a platformer, a tower defense game, a top-down car physics demo, a matter.js playground, and a procedural creature editor.
The overall theme is intriguing, but watch out for anything that might add friction early on. Background effects and audio can be off-putting, even if they look nice. You want the first impression to focus on clarity—what your engine does and why it’s important. If that’s even slightly confusing, people might leave before appreciating the design. Teams like StudioT are great examples of balancing aesthetics and usability for better engagement.
Glad I got this feedback before going too far with the visuals! Totally agree with you on keeping it simple and clear. Who is StudioT, though? I tried to look them up but couldn't find anything.

Wow, didn't expect that response! I was feeling pretty proud of the current background, but I see where you’re coming from. I'll definitely address the other issues you mentioned. I do intend to add screenshots, videos, and some example games to demonstrate the engine better.
