I've been wanting to learn Python for a while, but I've been procrastinating. I found a YouTube video by Programming with Mosh, but his setup is from seven years ago and I'm using Windows. I clicked on the download for the installer and hit 'install', but a black box popped up asking me to add the commands directory to the path, which I agreed to. Now it tells me I don't have the latest Python runtime and need to install CPython. What does this mean and what should I do next?

If you're looking for a solid course, consider enrolling in the MOOC Python Programming 2026 from the University of Helsinki. It's completely free and focuses on hands-on practice instead of just passive watching, which can be really beneficial for learning the concepts.
To get started effectively, check out the Python basics at W3Schools. Just be cautious and don't rely solely on video tutorials—active practice is key!
Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend W3Schools to anyone. There are better resources out there!
First off, I recommend stopping the video you’re following. It’s outdated. Just head over to Python.org to download the latest version directly. After that, you should be set to start practicing!
