I'm looking for a graphics card that offers good performance but stays under the $450 mark. Ideally, I want something that can match the performance of the RTX 3080 or RX 6800. Any recommendations?

If you're open to used options, I’d say check for a used RTX 3080 or RX 6800. I’ve seen them go for around $380 to $400. That’s your best bet for performance! Just be cautious about the condition.
Do you need it right away? If not, you might want to hold off a few weeks or months for better prices or promotions. Also, going for a card with at least 12GB would be smart for some future-proofing!
Nope, I’ll be building my rig in a month.
My buddy sold his 3080 for around $400, which I think is solid. If you can snag a used one, it’s great value. Otherwise, I went for a new RX 7800 XT for $570, and it's doing well—just slightly more performant than a 3060 Ti and around 10% faster than the 3080. But honestly, you can find a used 6800 XT for more VRAM, which is a solid choice too! I saw an RX 7800 XT on eBay for $420—definitely worth watching for deals!
What about new GPUs? I’m not really comfortable with buying used cards.
If you're looking for a new GPU, consider the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB at an MSRP of $430. Also, keep an eye out for the RX 7800 XT or RX 7900 GRE if good options pop up!
Is it really worth it? A newer GPU at such a low price feels kind of off.
Yeah, I agree! About six months ago, the RX 6800 was about $380, but new options like the RTX 4060 now are less powerful, closer to 3060 Ti performance. You might have to spend big to hit 3080 performance these days.
