What’s the deal with Netlify credits piling up?

I recently deployed a site using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on Netlify, and I've noticed my credits are running out super quickly—I've already filled 180 credits! I'm worried this might cause my site to go down, especially since it's being shared widely. Can anyone shed light on what happens when the credits run out? What can I do to manage this better?

Honestly, if you're hitting those credit limits so quickly, it might be worth looking into self-hosting on a VPS or switching to a paid service. Free tiers are great for testing, but they often aren’t reliable long-term. You might want to consider your options if you expect a lot of traffic!

Totally agree! It's a good way to avoid surprise costs. Plus, if your website is getting traffic, paying a little can save you a lot of headaches.

I get that, but for your situation, it sounds like a feasible plan since your site will likely be accessed frequently.

Netlify’s free tier offers 100GB of bandwidth a month, not just credits. If you’re consuming credits this fast, maybe you’ve got some unoptimized images or scripts that load multiple times. Definitely check on your assets! Sor reliable traffic, consider upgrading or alternatives like Vercel or GitHub Pages if you hit the limits again; they have different restrictions that might suit your site better.

Yeah, I heard they changed to this credits system recently. It's a bit confusing, to say the least.

Nope, Netlify won't just kill your site if you run out of credits. They might start charging you instead, which can be confusing. But with that many credits used from just your files, you might have a build loop or something else going on that's overloading their servers.

Wait, so they'll just stop the website until I pay? I pushed changes without realizing I was burning through credits, and I only have 59 left!

Have you thought about switching to Cloudflare Pages? It's free and has no bandwidth limits for simpler static sites. It could be a solid alternative, depending on your needs!

I wish I could, but I have the Netlify URL in a printed QR code!
