My wife struggles with insomnia, but I've noticed that reading to her helps her relax and fall asleep. Since I can't be there to read every night, I'm looking for a simple solution to record some audiobooks for her. I don't have any recording equipment, and I would prefer not to invest in any gear. What's the best way to go about recording these?

You can use the built-in recording app on Windows or MacOS—it's super easy! Just grab a basic mic or even a headset to get started. But if you really need your recordings, there are tons of free audiobooks online too! Sites like Librivox offer public domain books recorded by volunteers, completely free. Check that out if you're open to it!
It really needs to be your voice though! Have you listened to how some narrators can really change a story, like Stephen Fry with the Paddington books? Not always the best interpretation!
That’s such a sweet idea! I sincerely wish you all the best in making this happen for her. It sounds like you'll make her nights so much better!
Thanks! I’ve tried asking in other forums before, but my posts kept getting taken down for some reason.
Librivox is great, plus don't forget about your library's Libby app! They have tons of audiobooks too.
