I've got a 50 Mbps internet plan, but I'm running into some strange results. When I check my speeds on Ookla or Fast, it shows around 100 Mbps. This had me thinking it was an error because my actual download speeds on Steam and other platforms never exceed 50 Mbps. However, I found that I'm consistently able to download games from Ubisoft Connect at 100 Mbps! This speed boost happens only with Ubisoft Connect; my speeds are always capped at the expected 50 Mbps elsewhere. Can anyone explain what's going on? Is my ISP pulling a fast one?

Have you checked the bits versus bytes? Just a thought, but my down speeds were fluctuating until I cleared that up. But in your case, using bytes for both doesn’t seem to matter.
This seems pretty common. I’ve got an 800 Mbps plan and often see speeds up to 900 Mbps, especially during off-peak hours. But yeah, get a bunch of folks streaming at the same time, and that speed definitely takes a dive. You might just be getting that extra speed due to less congestion when downloading from Ubisoft.
Totally normal behavior! When a lot of people in your area are online, that can slow down your speeds. Keep an eye on when you’re downloading; it can make a big difference!
There could be some local caching happening. Maybe your ISP has set something up where Ubisoft games are cached from other users in your area, speeding up your downloads!
I think ISPs might prioritize speed test websites. Like, I heard that fast.com tricks ISPs into prioritizing Netflix traffic. It's interesting you get those speeds on Ubisoft Connect - there might be something similar at play there!
Yeah, I was thinking the same! But I’m confused since I’m getting the boosted speeds exclusively from Ubisoft and not all games.
That makes sense, but I just wish it wasn’t a Ubisoft-only thing. I’d be happier if Steam could give me that boost too!
