Why Can’t I Use My Sony Headphones’ Microphone in Google Meet?

I've been using my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones for a few years, but recently the microphone isn't working during work calls in Google Meet. I'm running Windows 11 and using Google Chrome. The system shows an error saying "Can't access your microphone" and suggests checking the microphone privacy settings to ensure Chrome has access. I've confirmed that the other microphone on my laptop works fine, so I'm at a loss. Is there something else I should check or configure to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What about trying Firefox? Sometimes switching browsers can help resolve compatibility issues with Google Meet. Just a thought!

I tried that, but unfortunately, the microphone still doesn’t work in Firefox either. The laptop’s built-in mic does work, though.

Have you tried un-pairing your headphones from your PC and then pairing them again? Sometimes, just resetting the connection can solve these issues. Also, check if your microphone is set as the default input and communications device in the sound settings. You might want to test it in another application like the sound recorder to see if it's working there.
