Why does transferring files to my USB drive take so long?

I've been having a frustrating experience transferring files to my brand new USB drive. I'm trying to copy around 3GB of data, and while the transfer speed jumps as high as 120 MB/s at times, it eventually slows down significantly, taking hours to finish. Is there a reason for this? Are there certain files that take longer to transfer, or could it be an issue with the drivers? I included a link to a screenshot showing the transfer speed: https://imgur.com/a/2DtKAck. Any insights would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, that's just how USB drives tend to work. They usually aren't the fastest when it comes to larger file transfers. It's pretty common for speeds to fluctuate like what you're experiencing.

I get your point, but I had ZIP drives that were way more consistent when I was a kid. It's hard to believe that this is just how it is.
