Why Have Search Algorithms Become So Ineffective?

I've noticed that search functionalities have been declining, especially on platforms like YouTube, Google, and Amazon. They seem to return results that aren't relevant or helpful, even for basic queries. For instance, YouTube often pushes videos I've already viewed or irrelevant content, and Google's results feel off too. I've even tried clearing my history and cache on YouTube, but it hardly made a difference. Is there a reason for this trend, and more importantly, is there a way to fix it?

A lot of this comes down to money and advertising. Companies prioritize getting clicks and engagement because that's where the revenue comes from. So search results are tailored to promote content that garners views rather than serving up the most relevant information. It feels like we're drowned in ads and less useful suggestions now.

Exactly! It seems like Wall Street's obsession with earnings drives companies to focus on revenue instead of user satisfaction, leading to less quality in search results.
