I recently built a new PC and installed Windows 11, along with all necessary drivers. However, I'm experiencing really choppy audio, which I've narrowed down to using my AirPods Max through a Bluetooth dongle. Occasionally, the audio works just fine, but it quickly returns to being choppy again. I can't change my audio settings to 24 bit, and even after adjusting power settings in the Nvidia control panel to high performance and ultra-low latency, the problem persists. Windows settings keep reverting to balanced, which is driving me nuts. I've noticed that the audio sounds slightly better when the computer is idle, but as soon as I interact with any other program, it becomes extremely choppy again. I really need some help with this—it's incredibly frustrating!

Have you tried plugging in some speakers? If they work fine, it could be an issue specifically with your AirPods Max and the Bluetooth connection.

I don’t have speakers to try out.
